The End of the Water Cooler Moment
Tivo and DVR's have put an end to the water cooler moments on TV. These days when someone says, "Did you watch (whatever) show last night?", I typically say something like, "I haven't watched it yet so don't tell me!". I don't watch anything real time anymore. Everything goes on my DVR to be watched at another time without commercials. No longer do people waste time at work by chatting about the shows on the night before and the days of watching a great night of TV with a bunch of friends are over.
Stress...What Stress?
To say I'm stressed right now is a bit of an understatement. I have a busy week at work, my family is coming to visit on Saturday and my house is a mess because of the kitchen remodel. When this is all done and the visitors are gone, my husband and I need to do something fun and relaxing. Until then...I will continue to stress...because I'm pretty good at it.

It's Coming Along
The kitchen is starting to look like a room again. Once the electrical and plumbing were done and inspected, things have moved along very quickly. Drywall is up and the floors are done (except for 1 more coat later). The cabinets are in the garage...although the drawer style is not what we ordered, but my husband likes it better...I like it less. Not sure what to do with that. I would post a picture, but the floors are wet and I can't go in there.

Snuggie
I always have a blanket on me when sitting on the couch at home no matter what the temperature is. I just have different blankets for different seasons. Blankets gives me comfort for some reason. I am sure everyone has seen the infomercial for Snuggie, the blanket with arms. My husband teases me that I should get one, but I'd be way too embarrassed. Who knew these things would take off! They have sold over 4 million Snuggies!!! Now people are starting Snuggie Pub Crawls which I think is a brilliant idea! This is perfect for people who want to go out with friends and be comfortable and don't really care how they look. My friend and I were recently talking about how we wish there were separate dance floors in clubs for people looking to hook up and people who just want to dance...can't imagine that would be very popular though. Wearing a Snuggie to a bar would definitely give the message that you are not on the prowl.
Stay Within the Lines
The Target credit card machine got mad at me today! With as much money as I spend in that store you would think it would let me do what I wanted. I used to have a nice neat signature when signing for credit card purchases, but lately I just don't care. It's almost a game lately to see how quickly I can write it. Today at Target I was signing the little machine box and it gave me an error message to "stay within the lines". It's ok, I forgive you Target because you are still my favorite store.

Blog Anniversary
Today is my blog anniversary! I really cannot believe I have kept this up for a year. Usually I get excited by something and get all into it, then lose interest and move on to something else. I thought I would post every day, but that hasn't happened. I do have over 200 posts so on average that's about every 2 out of 3 days. I'm happy that I have kept true to what I said I would write about in my first post and I'm a bit disappointed that I do not have more regular readers. I am very grateful to my regular readers...Jenn, Jennifer, Laura, Deb, Allison...you are awesome. If there are any others...leave some comments so I know who you are!

Kitchen Update
The kitchen project has been a little too sore of a subject to talk or write about lately. It's going very slowly...there have been 16 work days since it started and they have been here for only 7 of them. On most of those days it didn't look like too much work was done either.
Here are some "before" pictures and some pictures taken today.

Real Housewives Wrap Up
Season 4 of the The Real Housewives of Orange County has come and gone and my thoughts on some of the ladies has changed quite a bit. In a previous post, I commented on how excited I was for this season and how much I liked a couple of the ladies, but now I think I need to take some of that back.
Gretchen - One of the new women this season. She is 30 years old, gorgeous and engaged to a much older man (Jeff) who is wealthy and loves to spoil her. Unfortunately Jeff was also suffering from cancer and Gretchen quit her job to be able to take care of him (he passed away after the show finished taping). Gretchen likes to be the center of attention, but at the same time seems extremely kind and has a smile and demeanor that makes everyone happy. Except women who are jealous of her...and I mean you, Vicki and Tamara. The women loved to talk behind her back and question her relationship with Jeff...even though most of them never even met Jeff. Gretchen and Jeff were each in the relationship for their own reasons and they seemed to really care about each other so everyone else should just stay out of it.
Vicki - I used to really like Vicki because she has a successful business and she raised good kids (ok, Michael is a bit of a slacker, but he is a good kid and finished college). I thought she was someone to admire because she was able to do it all, but her ego seems to have gotten in the way and she is not very likable anymore. Vicki just ignored Gretchen and refused to get to know her.
Tamara - The self proclaimed "hottest housewife in Orange County"...until Gretchen came along. This really bothered Tamara that someone younger and hotter than her was on the show. Tamara pretended to be here friend and then would say nasty things behind her back and try to get Gretchen to embarrass herself. We learned that Tamara has issues with her dad because he divorced her mom when Tamara was 25 and he had little contact with them after that. I think her issues with her dad is why she looks for others to validate her...but only her looks. But really, get over it, we all have issues.
Lauri - All we hear about is how wonderful Lauri's life is since George, uber loaded George, swept her off her feet and she gets to live the "OC lifestyle" again. Lauri just couldn't be happy without a rich man to take care of her. Now she is just sooo busy with the 7 children that she couldn't be on the show anymore because she had to focus on her family. It's unclear how many of these children they actually take care of. My guess is 1. She's done a bang up job with that too given that Josh is in jail for using and selling heroin.
Jeaana - I feel bad for Jeanna because she has been completely broken down emotionally and the fire isn't there anymore. She finally separated from her husband, which is a good thing since all he ever did was put her down. But now she needs to build up her confidence again and believe she is worth being treated well. Even her kids treat her like crap, thanks to the example their dad gave them their entire lives.
Lynn - The other new housewife this season. I am not sure what to think of Lynn because most of her story was focused on her spoiled bratty children...Raquel and Alexis. Raquel graduated high school a year and a half ago and still does nothing...no school, no job, just loafs around and lives off her parents. I am not a parent, so I shouldn't judge, but Lynn was more concerned about being friends with her daughters (and being able to share clothes with them) then being a parent. I didn't love her or hate her.
It will be interesting to see who comes back for the next season...

I Made It
My company had lay offs today and luckily I am still employed. I cannot say that for the people who sat on either side of me.

Jenny Craig: Week 14
I have just about lost the few pounds I had gained back. I lost 1.6 this week bringing the JC total to 10 pounds and 17.2 overall. I am pretty much bored with the JC plan. Right now I am eating mostly JC food, but some meals are "on my own". I eat what I want, whether it's a Jenny meal another frozen meal or something out, but I keep track of my calories and try for 1,200 per day. I averaged about 1,450 last week so I'm surprised I had a good loss. I'll take it though.

Jenny Craig: Week 13
I'm not sure how, but I pulled out a one pound loss this week...and then today I got on the scale again at home today and I have gone down another pound. My kitchen was demolished on Friday for the remodeling project so I'm really limited with what I can eat at home now...and I think that has turned out to help me. I can't say I've been "on plan" for a few weeks now. I certainly eat the JC food...plus some. Hopefully I'm back on track now. I'm still meandering around the same loss totals. 8.4 pounds on Jenny and 15.6 overall.
