Becoming a Mixologist

I have been thinking lately that if I get laid off from my job, which is always a possibility at my company that I want to go to bartender school. Not that I want to go to work as a bartender, but I want to know how to make a variety of drinks for me, my husband and our friends. Since I still have a job, I have decided that I am going to try to start learning to make a bunch of different drinks this summer. So far I only have two drinks I feel good about making…a white Russian and a margarita on the rocks. Next up is a gin and tonic since that is my husband’s drink of choice. If anyone has any good drink recipes, please leave them for me in the comments section.

I can indeed help on the G&T~
That's my Dad's drink of choice - so as a present one year - I researched G&T's and found opinions that the 'perfect G&T' was made with Plymouth Gin, Schweppes Tonic and- or course - fresh lime. It was a huge hit! The Plymouth Gin is very smooth and really makes a difference. Even non G&T fans enjoyed it. It's the only gin I recommend anymore. VA ABC's do carry it -- but not in great quantities. It's the BEST.
Now I want a G&T! To bad it's 11am on a work day~

Mmmm... drinks!

My favorite recipe is for the perfect margarita.

1 shot of your fave tequila (I use Patron)
1 shot of Grand Marnier
4 shots of sweet n' sour mix
squeeze 1/2 a lime into it
Mix and pour over ice!

Mix together and enjoy!
-------------------
We also like red bull and vodka (if you like energy drinks)

1 shot of your favorite vodka (we use Absolut or Grey Goose for best flavor)
1/2 can Red Bull

Mix and enjoy! Sometimes I even add a bit of cranberry juice to add more flavor.

I got tired of Red Bull (and all the calories - ouch!) so I now use low carb Monster. It has a great flavor and it's only 10 calories. YUM!

The other day I had a drink called a French Martini. I don't know the recipe, but it was vodka, pineapple, drambouie (sp) and sweet and sour. It was great!
